Mneme

Mneme is indeed one of Jupiter's moons. It's a member of the Pasiphae group, which is a cluster of irregular moons that orbit Jupiter in a retrograde direction. These moons are known for their distant and inclined orbits.

Here are some key details about Mneme:

  1. Size and Characteristics: Like other moons in the Pasiphae group, Mneme is relatively small and has an irregular shape. These irregularly shaped moons are believed to be composed of a mixture of rock and ice.

  2. Orbit: Mneme follows a retrograde orbit around Jupiter, meaning it orbits in the opposite direction of Jupiter's rotation. Its orbit is distant from Jupiter and inclined relative to the planet's equator.

  3. Name Origin: Mneme is named after one of the Greek Muses, who were goddesses of the arts and sciences in Greek mythology. Mneme was specifically the Muse of memory and the mother of the Muses by Zeus.

  4. Exploration: As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, there haven't been any dedicated space missions to study Mneme specifically. Most of the information about this moon and others in its group comes from observations made by telescopes and spacecraft like the Galileo orbiter.
