Ameca

 

Ameca is a first-generation robot developed by Engineered Arts in Falmouth, Cornwall, UK, starting in February 2021. Its first video was revealed to the public on December 1st, 2021, gaining widespread attention on Twitter and TikTok. Ameca was first publicly demonstrated at CES 2022 and covered by various news outlets. It was also featured on Channel 4's Alternative Christmas message on Christmas Day 2022. Ameca's primary purpose is to serve as a platform for further developing human-robot interaction technologies. It uses embedded microphones, cameras, and facial recognition software to interact with the public, and can be governed by either GPT-3 or human telepresence. The robot features articulated motorized arms, fingers, neck, and facial features, with grey rubber skin on the face and hands, and is designed to appear genderless.
