Afghanistan

Afghanistan is a landlocked country located in South Asia and Central Asia. It shares borders with Pakistan to the east and south, Iran to the west, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan to the north, and China to the northeast. Afghanistan has a long history of conflict, including a long-standing conflict between various factions within the country, as well as conflicts with neighboring countries. The most recent conflict in Afghanistan began in 2001, when the United States and its allies invaded the country in response to the 9/11 attacks and the Taliban government's refusal to hand over Osama bin Laden, who was then the leader of the Al-Qaeda terrorist group. The conflict has resulted in a significant loss of life, both among civilians and military personnel. It has also displaced millions of people and caused extensive damage to the country's infrastructure. As of September 2021, the Taliban has regained control of Afghanistan after the United States and its allies withdrew their troops. The situation in the country remains uncertain, with concerns about human rights abuses, especially for women and girls, and the potential for the country to become a safe haven for terrorist groups.
