Zaheer Khan is a former Indian cricketer, who was born on October 7, 1978, in Shrirampur, Maharashtra, India. He was a left-arm fast bowler, known for his ability to swing the ball both ways and his mastery of various bowling techniques. Zaheer made his debut for the Indian cricket team in 2000 and went on to play 92 Tests, 200 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and 17 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) for India. He was a key member of the Indian team that won the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup. Zaheer is one of India's most successful fast bowlers in Test cricket. He took 311 wickets in Test cricket, making him the fourth-highest wicket-taker for India in the format. He is also the second-most successful left-arm fast bowler in Test cricket after Wasim Akram, and the fourth-fastest Indian to reach the milestone of 100 wickets in Test cricket. In addition to his bowling skills, Zaheer was also a useful lower-order batsman and a good fielder. He scored over 1400 runs in Test cricket, including one century, and took 29 catches. Zaheer also played for various domestic and franchise cricket teams in India, including Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League (IPL). After retiring from international cricket, he has been involved in coaching and mentoring young fast bowlers in India.
