Kapil Dev is a former Indian cricketer and one of the greatest all-rounders in the history of cricket. He was born on January 6, 1959, in Chandigarh, India. Kapil Dev made his debut for the Indian cricket team in 1978 and went on to have a highly successful career, both as a player and as a captain. He is best known for leading India to victory in the 1983 Cricket World Cup, which is considered a turning point in Indian cricket history. During his career, Kapil Dev played 131 Test matches and scored 5,248 runs, with a highest score of 163 not out, and took 434 wickets. He also played in 225 One Day International matches and scored 3,783 runs, with a highest score of 175 not out, and took 253 wickets.
