 Mahendra Singh Dhoni, commonly known as MS Dhoni, is a former Indian cricketer and captain of the Indian national cricket team. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest cricketing captains of all time and is known for his calm and composed demeanor on the field. Dhoni was born on July 7, 1981, in Ranchi, Jharkhand. He made his debut for the Indian cricket team in December 2004 and quickly established himself as one of the most promising young players in the country. He was appointed captain of the Indian team in 2007 and went on to lead the team to numerous victories, including the 2007 ICC World Twenty20, the 2010 and 2016 Asia Cups, and the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup. Dhoni is known for his aggressive yet calculated approach to the game and his ability to stay cool under pressure. He is also known for his exceptional wicket-keeping skills and his ability to finish matches with the bat. He retired from international cricket in August 2020, bringing an end to a successful career that spanned 16 years. Off the field, Dhoni is known for his philanthropic work and has been involved in various charitable activities, including supporting underprivileged children through his charitable foundation. He is also a recipient of numerous awards, including the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award, and the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, India's highest sporting honor.
