Galatea(Neptune's moon)

Galatea is the fourth innermost moon of Neptune and was discovered by the Voyager 2 spacecraft in 1989. It is named after a sea nymph in Greek mythology who was a lover of the Cyclops Polyphemus. Galatea is a small, irregularly shaped moon that measures about 176 kilometers (109 miles) across its longest dimension. It orbits Neptune at a distance of about 62,000 km (39,000 miles) and completes one orbit in about 10 hours and 18 minutes. Galatea is believed to be a rubble-pile moon, meaning that it is made up of many small pieces of rock and ice that are loosely held together by gravity. Its surface is heavily cratered and has a few prominent grooves and ridges that may be the result of tectonic activity or cryovolcanism.
