Juno

Juno is a spacecraft that was launched by NASA in 2011 as part of the agency's New Frontiers program. Its primary mission is to study the planet Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system, and to gather data that will help scientists better understand its composition, magnetic field, atmosphere, and other properties. Juno arrived at Jupiter in July 2016 after a journey of more than five years. Since then, it has been orbiting the planet in a highly elliptical polar orbit, conducting a series of close flybys to study Jupiter's magnetic field, gravitational field, and composition. Some of the key discoveries made by Juno include: Mapping Jupiter's magnetic field, which is the strongest magnetic field of any planet in our solar system, and discovering that it is more complex and dynamic than previously thought. Studying the composition of Jupiter's atmosphere and clouds, including its famous Great Red Spot, and discovering that the planet's atmosphere is much deeper than expected and that its jet streams extend for thousands of kilometers. Measuring the amount of water and other volatile elements on Jupiter, which can provide insights into the planet's formation and evolution. Juno's mission has been extended several times since its arrival at Jupiter, and it is currently scheduled to continue operating until at least 2025. The spacecraft has already provided a wealth of data and insights into one of the most mysterious and fascinating planets in our solar system, and its ongoing mission is expected to lead to even more discoveries and scientific breakthroughs.
